Why Nothing Makes Sense, Or, When Lunatics Run The Asylum…

People believe what they want to believe… And what they  believe  will usually be that which is most  convenient  for them. For example, if you’re tired of hearing “those people” complain about the violation of their civil rights, and the existence, or perpetration, of that violation is what cements and guarantees your own  unearned privilege, you will have a  tendency to believe that the victims are just lazy, “negative thinkers” who don’t know the meaning of hard work and “constructive language” – despite the fact that your own success is based on whom you knew, certain conditions of your birth, and an ethic of always “looking out for each other” (with ‘each other’ being defined as ‘your kind’) even if “your kind” is wrong, totally unethical, or out-and-out racist, sexist, homophobic, or xenophobic…

In 1851 (ten years before the American Civil War, and some 14 years before America’s Black slaves being “freed”), American physician, Samuel Cartwright, identified the mental disorder, “drapetomania.” The defining symptom of “drapetomania” was “the desire to run away from slavery.” Dr. Cartwright’s “treatment” and sole preventive measure were identical: “Whip the devil out of them.” So, you see, all the beatings, and rapes, and other tortures sustained by Black slaves (whether they ran away or not) were not because the slave owners were a bunch of racist, sadistic, self-serving psychopaths, but rather because they loved us, were concerned about us, and wanted us to “get better.”

But, oh, yes… Now would be a  great  time to talk about the power of language and how we “craft” our words, wouldn’t it? Yes, let’s not give any more power to the “negative” by  talking about it… Let’s just pretend “it” never happened… Better yet, let’s take the “n-word” out of  Huckleberry Finn  and imply that social historian, humanitarian, civil rights activist, and brilliant humorist, Samuel Clemons aka Mark Twain was a “racist.” Let’s just pretend that the people in Mr. Twain’s “story” never used the “n-word,” and completely circumvent any classroom discussion of what the simple perversion of the term “Negro” implied, and how it affected and forever changed the lives of millions of Black people. Let’s not talk about how White Americans of one age caused their children, and their children’s children to “inherit the wind”…

When victims complain, they are branded as “rabble-rousers,” “reverse racists” (if they’re not White), and “man-hating lezzies” (if they’re not heterosexual), or “psychopaths” should they finally bristle at the “thousand shocks that man is heir to,” i.e., a lifetime of abuse and disregard… They are diagnosed for such mental illnesses as “clinical depression” or “bipolar disorder” or “schizophrenia,” or “Christopher Dorner Disorder” because being treated like shit, with no recourse, “upsets” them… Apparently, a more normal reaction to people who simply ASSume you’re an idiot because of your color or sexual orientation would be to… like it…?

And it is  this  that is my problem with the American Psychological Association. What are they but the hand[job] maidens of an elitist government? And have you ever considered that the acronym for the American Psychological Association, APA, is also the first three letters of the word APAthy? There is but one ‘race,’ the human race… The elitism comes into play when you find yourself being victimized by other minorities, who look just like you, but who pledge their allegiance to the 1% because it is to their advantage. Membership has its privileges… Many people, Black, White, and in between, don’t realize that in America’s infancy, even White people were slaves… Blacks and Whites freely intermarried, socialized, and bore the whip of affliction… It was the new job title “Slave Overseer,” developed as part of the very first American “economic stimulus” program that inspired upwardly mobile White people to step back and view their former friends and neighbors as their ‘lessers’… And the rest is [revisionist] history…

Pass it on.

  1. You’ve hit the nail on the head. “We” just don’t wanna know… “We” just want to live out our lives, in relative comfort, protecting what’s “mine’s”… And the “curriculum” is designed and ‘demeaned’ to facilitate just that…

    Thank you.

  2. Brilliant . . . so brilliant that (I dare say) 90-95% of the population wouldn’t understand it if they even bothered to read it. But, then again, we Americans are bound and determined to stay as ignorant as possible, and accept whatever bullsh . . . I mean HIStory, is taught by whoever speaks the loudest and longest. Don’t critique it, don’t review it, don’t research it, it’s mandatory curriculum, so, just pass it on . . .
